Learn the Culture of Zhongwu Through Visiting Changzhou——the International Students of SVHC Participated in the Activity of "Reading Changzhou"，one of the Events of "Reading Jiangsu"

On May 30th, with the jointly efforts and careful planning of the International Cooperation Office, the Student Affairs Office and the Department of General Education (College Students’ Quality Development Center), our school’s international students participated in the opening ceremony and series of activities of the 2024 "Reading Jiangsu" at Changzhou University. In the event, the international students had an in-depth experience of intelligent manufacturing in China and the history and culture of Zhongwu. During the visit to the Li Auto Factory of the new energy enterprise and Canal No. 5, they had a thorough understanding of the charm of Changzhou’s history and culture, modern industry and folk art.

The "Reading Jiangsu" activity is a brand activity of China's national conditions education for foreign students in Jiangsu Province. The annual activity lasts for half a year, with Jiangsu's excellent cultural works as the carrier and Jiangsu's regional characteristics as the theme. By organizing foreign students to read extensively and join in the city walk, students experience the profound heritage of Jiangsu culture. At the opening ceremony, Shi Yunyu, Director of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Provincial Department of Education, introduced the progress of the "Reading Jiangsu" activity, hoping that international students would tell the "Changzhou Story" from different perspectives, so that more people could understand the cultural heritage of Jiangsu.

The first stop of the activity is the Canal 5 Museum. This museum located on the banks of the canal records the changes in the canal culture of Changzhou and even China. In the museum, with the detailed interpretation of the canal culture by the docent, the international students appreciated the precious cultural relics and artworks. Under the guidance of the staff, they also experienced the rubbing culture in person, rubbing the exquisite poems on paper, and felt the unique charm of traditional culture. After that, everyone came to the Li Auto Inc., deeply shocked by the scene in the modern intelligent manufacturing base. From automated production lines to high-precision testing equipment, every link demonstrates the advanced and efficient modern automobile manufacturing in China. The international students learned about the whole process of automobile manufacturing, and said that such on-site visits gave them a more intuitive understanding of the development of China's manufacturing industry. They added that they would strengthen their determination to learn Chinese well.

This activity not only enriched the international students’ living experience in China, but also broadened their horizons and knowledge. What’s more, it deepened their understanding of the breadth and profundity of Chinese traditional culture and the cutting-edge development of intelligent manufacturing.
