Solemn Oaths to Uphold Ideals, Striving to Realize Dreams: the School of Clinical Medicine Holds 2024 Medical Student Oath-Taking Ceremony
On the afternoon of November 14th, the 2024 Medical Student Oath-Taking Ceremony of the School of Clinical Medicine was grandly held at the college’s Cultural and Arts Center. Luo Xiaoqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the college, all members of the School of Clinical Medicine Party and administrative leadership, representatives of industry professors, faculty representatives, and over 600 students from the 2024 Class attended the event. The ceremony was presided over by Lu Hui, Secretary of the Party Branch of the School of Clinical Medicine.
The event began with the solemn national anthem. Luo Xiaoqing delivered a speech. He emphasized that the medical student oath-taking ceremony is a crucial moment for students to strengthen their belief in "putting the people and life first," uphold the professional spirit of "respecting life, healing the sick, being willing to contribute, and showing boundless love," and continuously improve their professional skills and humanistic qualities. He encouraged students to cultivate moral integrity, strive for excellence, and become dreamers with a sense of national responsibility; to integrate knowledge with action, stay grounded, and become diligent strivers; to remain steadfast, seek inner growth, and become reflective learners; and to aim high, explore outward, and become profound thinkers. He urged them to uphold great virtues, achieve great talents, and shoulder great responsibilities, fulfilling their solemn oath to "devote their lives to the development of the nation’s medical and health cause and the well-being of humanity" through concrete actions.

During the ceremony, representatives of the 2024 Class recited the poem "The Morning Stars of Medicine, Guarding the Light of Life," expressing the spirit of dedication and sacrifice of medical students with powerful and resonant voices.

Luo Xiaoqing presented the appointment certificate to Yang Chao, Director of the Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine Department at Suzhou Science and Technology City Hospital, as a Jiangsu Province Industry Professor. The leadership of the School of Clinical Medicine awarded and recognized teachers and students who had won national and provincial skills competitions, teaching ability competitions, and innovation and entrepreneurship competitions during the 2023-2024 academic year. Over the past year, the School of Clinical Medicine has unified its efforts, focused on meticulous preparation for various competitions, and achieved new breakthroughs in the college’s high-quality development projects through hard work and dedication.

Led by Huang Jian, Director of the School of Clinical Medicine, the students raised their right hands and solemnly swore the oath: "Health is entrusted, life is entrusted. As I enter the sacred halls of medical learning, I solemnly swear: I am willing to dedicate myself to medicine, love my country, and remain loyal to the people..." The resounding vows expressed their determination to devote themselves to medicine and their unwavering belief in relentless striving.

Shen Doudou, a student from the 2022 Class of Rehabilitation Therapy Technology Program, shared her personal journey and growth since entering the college, particularly her experiences preparing for the 2024 World Vocational College Skills Competition. She called on her peers to let their oaths guide their actions, turn their determination into motivation, maintain a passion for continuous learning, and constantly improve themselves in pursuit of excellence.
