Promoting the Spirit of Pharmacy and Inheriting the Culture of Pharmacopoeia – School of Pharmacy Holds the 2024 "Pharmacopoeia Inheritance" Career Coming-of-Age Ceremony and Pharmacist Professional Ethics Oath-Taking Event
To promote the spirit of pharmacy, inherit the culture of pharmacopoeia, and enhance the professional ethics awareness of pharmacy students, the School of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Teaching Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office, Student Quality Development Center, and the Youth League Committee, held the 2024 "Pharmacopoeia Inheritance" Career Coming-of-Age Ceremony and Pharmacist Professional Ethics Oath-Taking Event on November 26th at the college’s Cultural and Arts Center. Wu Lirong, Member of the University Party Committee and Vice President of Suzhou Vocational Health College, Liang Zhu, donor of the "Xinyuehua" Inspirational Scholarship, representatives from relevant departments, industry experts, and outstanding alumni attended the ceremony. All faculty members of the School of Pharmacy and over 600 students from the 2024 Class in various pharmacy programs participated.
The event began in a solemn atmosphere, with Wu Lirong delivering the opening remarks. She emphasized that the new era has bestowed new missions and responsibilities on young pharmacy professionals. She encouraged students to set lofty goals, strive for diligence, practicality, and excellence, and become exemplary individuals of SVHC. She urged students to align their personal aspirations with the nation’s future, the destiny of the people, and the well-being of society, striving to become high-quality technical and skilled pharmaceutical professionals with strong ethics, regulatory knowledge, and technical expertise.
Outstanding alumni serve as role models and hold significant importance for students' career development. The event invited Pu Kaifu, an outstanding alumnus, Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Youth League Committee’s Suzhou Working Committee, founder and general manager of Fumaisen Precision Technology, and a graduate of the 2015 Class of Pharmacy Program, to share his career journey and provide valuable advice to current students.
During the "Xinyuehua Inspirational Scholarship" award ceremony, the leadership of the School of Pharmacy and Liang Zhu, an outstanding alumnus from the 2013 Class of Pharmaceutical Business and Management Program and general manager of Xinyuehua, jointly presented awards to the scholarship recipients. This segment not only recognized outstanding students but also exemplified the collaboration between the college and industry in nurturing talent.
To better serve the biomedical industry and leverage the Jiangsu Province Pharmacy Industry-Education Integration Skills Inheritance and Innovation Platform, the event also featured the unveiling ceremony of the "Pharmacy Skills Master Studio" and the appointment of master experts. Wu Lirong and Xing Yiwen, former Deputy Director of the Suzhou Drug Testing and Research Center and member of the Suzhou Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, unveiled the "Pharmacy Skills Master Studio." The School of Pharmacy leadership presented appointment letters to five highly influential industry experts, inviting them to join the master studio.
During the solemn and sacred pharmacopoeia inheritance ceremony, seven faculty members, like guardians of the sacred flame of pharmacy, passed the pharmacopoeia, symbolizing the noble spirit of "guarding health and inheriting missions," to student representatives from the 2024 Class of pharmacy programs. The weighty pharmacopoeia, carrying the boundless expectations and profound trust of senior pharmacy professionals, was solemnly handed over to the students. They will take up the baton from their predecessors, ensuring that their passion and dedication to the pharmacy profession continue to shine and flourish in the new era.
Under the guidance of Xing Yiwen, all students solemnly swore the oath: "I will dedicate myself to the pharmacy profession with conscience, dignity, and professional competence..." The powerful and resounding vows echoed through the hall, deeply touching every student’s heart. Like a rallying call, the oath inspired students to embrace the noble responsibilities and sacred mission of pharmacy, igniting a fervent desire to become outstanding pharmacists and contribute their youth and wisdom to the pharmacy profession.
The pharmacopoeia is a cultural treasure of the Chinese nation and the core of the national drug standard system. Pharmacy professionals bear the responsibility of ensuring drug safety and effective use. Strengthening cultural awareness, fostering cultural confidence, and undertaking cultural missions are essential tasks for pharmacy professionals. This event deepened students' understanding of theoretical knowledge and cultural confidence in pharmacy, laying a solid foundation for their future growth and development.
