Great News! Our Student Wins Second Prize at the 2024 College Students' Innovation and Invention Internet English Challenge Competition

From December 6 to 8, the national finals of the "2024 College Students' Innovation and Invention Competition" were successfully held at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Guan Hongyan, a student from the 2022 Class, the School of Nursing of Suzhou Vocational Health College, participated in the Internet English Listening and Speaking Challenge Competition and won the second prize in the national competition.

He competition was hosted by the China Information Association and organized by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. It attracted 767 outstanding teams and more than 1,500 college students from across the country. The participants were selected through multiple rounds of competitions, including school-level and provincial-level (regional) contests, representing the top 0.4% of all entrants.

The English challenge competition in the national competition consisted of three parts: reading aloud, retelling, and answering questions. The scores were determined by a combination of an intelligent voice system and expert judges, based on the contestants' pronunciation, intonation, accuracy, and completeness. The competition tested the participants' English grammar, vocabulary, and sentence-structure skills, as well as their independent thinking and analytical abilities. It also challenged their knowledge base and on-the-spot response skills.

The Department of General Education has always adhered to the educational philosophy of "integrating teaching and competitions, promoting learning through competitions, and enhancing teaching through competitions." With the support of the excellent teaching team, the department conducts regular skills training. Through a combination of online and offline teaching and diversified language activities, it cultivates students' language application and cross-cultural communication skills. The goal is to develop innovative international talents who are proficient in language, knowledgeable in business, and skilled in communication.
