Two More Golds! Our Students Shine at the 2024-2025 “Belt and Road” BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition
From March 19 to 21, the "Belt and Road” BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition—Digital Sports Nutrition Consultation and Guidance Event was held at Guangzhou City College. A total of 185 teams from 20 provinces participated. After going through multiple rounds of theoretical tests, project design, and skill demonstrations, including a computer-based random draw and layers of encryption, Cai Zhouyan and Zou Wenjing (Grade 2022, Medical Nutrition) won two gold medals by their solid professional knowledge, innovative plan design, outstanding skill demonstration, and agile on-site control, making our university the only institution in Jiangsu Province to achieve this honor.
Cai Zhouyan also ranked first nationally in the project design category (Higher Vocational Group), while instructors Zhang Xueying and Sha Yu received "Outstanding Instructor" awards. Suzhou Vocational College was granted the "Best Organization Award".

To excel in the competition, SVHC's administrative departments and the School of Public Health attached great importance to the event. The two instructors dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to guiding the project's research, development, and practical implementation. The students utilized their spare time to conduct extensive literature reviews and in-depth enterprise research, continuously optimizing the project plans. When confronted with technical challenges, team members actively communicated, collaborated, and leveraged their individual strengths to overcome obstacles one after another. This mode of "learning through practice and growing through challenges" significantly ignited their passion for innovation and strengthened their spirit of teamwork.

The achievements of this competition have been incorporated into the evaluation system for the construction of higher vocational education institutions and their programs, and have been included in the competition directory of the Analysis Report on College Student Competitions by the Chinese Higher Education Society. This participation not only provided students with a platform for self-display, but also built a bridge for communication and cooperation between our college and other colleges. The success fully demonstrated the students' solid professional qualities and outstanding innovation abilities, and highlighted that SVHC has taken a solid and powerful step in cultivating students' practical and innovative abilities by integrating industry and education.
In the future, SVHC will further strengthen the central role of skills competitions in cultivating high-quality skilled talents. We will continue to deepen the educational philosophy of "promoting teaching through competitions and advancing learning through competitions", actively drive the deep integration of industry and education as well as in-depth college-enterprise collaboration, further enhance the quality of education and teaching, and nurture more versatile high-skilled professionals with global perspectives and innovative capabilities.
